Where do flights take place?

Balloon Flights take place in the Holmes County area.  Sunrise flights typically depart from the Amish Country Flea Market in Walnut Creek.  Sunset flights typically depart from the Farmstead Restaurant in Berlin.  Landing sights are dependent on wind direction.  No two flights are ever the same and each flight is a unique experience. 

How long is the flight?

The typical flights lasts one hour.  Depending on the availability of landing sights and weather conditions, flights can be as short or as long as 45 minutes-1 1/2 hours respectively.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably, according to the current weather conditions.  Please keep in mind that once in the air, the burner will provide a fair amount of heat.  Hats are a good idea especially for taller customers.  Proper footwear should be worn.  NO OPEN TOED SHOES OR HEELS.

Under what conditions do flights take place?

Safety is our number one priority.  Therefore, some flights will need to be rescheduled due to unfavorable weather conditions.  Winds must be light with no precipitation or thunderstorm activity in the area.  Flights take place in the morning or evening in order to avoid thermal activity during the hot hours of the day.  There is no additional cost to you if your flight is rescheduled due to weather conditions.

Who can fly?

Passengers who have had recent surgeries or are pregnant are not eligible for flights.  We do not offer flights for children under the age of 8.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Once again, safety is our first priority, so we ask for prior notification if your party includes any children or senior citizens.  These customers will only be flown when the wind is forecast to be very calm. 

Can I bring a camera?

YES!  We encourage you to bring your cameras and camcorders to capture as much of your balloon adventure as possible.  However, Holmes County Balloon Rides will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged property.
